Md Drug Conspiracy Inside Lajpore Jail Foiled | – Times of India

Surat: Surat police’s crime branch booked nine persons in connection with MD drugs in three different cases. These include an inter-state MD drug making racket worth Rs10 crore that was being hatched from Surat’s Lajpore jail which cops busted and also arrested its mastermind, Sunil Kaushik, an inmate.
Briefing media on all the three cases, Surat police commissioner Ajay Tomar said, “We became extra vigilant against drugs during the festive season and succeeded in busting a conspiracy to make MD drug that was brewing behind bars. We received a tip-off about Sunil Kaushik, an inmate of Lajpore jail in the city, operating a drug racket over phone. Kaushik along with former jail inmates Ghanshyam Mulani and Viramani alias Anna Panduranga had hatched the conspiracy.”
Tomar further said that prior to making the MD drugs in Umargam in Valsad district, the accused hid 10.9kg raw material in Pati village of Rajasthan. “Kaushik was in contact with his father Gajanand Sharma in Bhiwani in Haryana and was attempting to peddle MD drugs in Gujarat and Maharashtra through his father. We raided the Rajasthan village and seized the contraband,” the police commissioner said.
Tomar said that the accused had planned to shift the raw materials in a unit in Umargam and manufacture drugs worth Rs 10 crore and supply these in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
During investigation, it was revealed that the gang had already manufactured MD drugs earlier worth Rs 12 crore in Rajasthan and had sold it to the youth.
Viramani, who is a wanted in this case, was earlier caught with one kilogram of MD drugs by the DCB, Surat.
Mastermind Kaushik is already lodged in Lajpore jail after 7.7kg MD was seized from him by the Directorate Of Revenue Intelligency.
Cops also seized a mobile phone that Kaushik was using to operate the racket.
Police have arrested Ghanshyam Mulani too who jumped parole in a case.

Police in Bengaluru have seized meperidine powder and meperidine crystals from foreign drug peddlers, including three Nigerian nationals. The seizure, made by the Central Crime Branch, also included other drugs such as ganja, hashish oil, MDMA crystals, ecstasy pills, and cocaine. The total value of the seizure is estimated to be over Rs 7 crore. This is a significant haul in recent times and highlights the ongoing issue of drug trafficking in the city.
