Meerut South: Viaduct installed till Meerut South station, Rapidx picks up speed. Ghaziabad News – Times of India

Ghaziabad: The construction of the RapidX rail corridor is progressing rapidly, with the NCR Transport Corporation putting the viaduct in place. Meerut South station, officials said on Tuesday.
Presently, trial runs are being carried out on a fully upgraded priority section of 17 km of corridor with stations at Sahibabad, Ghaziabad City, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot. After this, viaducts have been installed on a route of 25 km between 4 stations between Duhai and Meerut South station.
The entire high-speed rail Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor will go up to Modipuram Depot, other 12 stations.
Tuesday’s official National The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) said the work is going on smoothly.
“The length of this stretch from Duhai to Meerut South RapidEx station near Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) is about 25 km. Along with installation of viaduct on these pillars, the work of laying parallel tracks is being done. Half the tracks have been laid. Electricity infrastructure is also being set up,” said an NCRTC official.
He further said, “Apart from this, the construction of technical equipment rooms at Meerut South station has also been completed. Keeping in view the convenience of the passengers, the entry-exit gates of this station are being constructed on both sides of the road.
The station has four levels – Ground, Mezzanine, Concourse and Platform. Slab casting for the mezzanine level of the station has been completed, and slab casting for the concourse level and platform level is in the final stages.
Work is underway on Modinagar South and Modinagar North stations – which precede Meerut South station.
Presently the slab casting work of concourse level of Modinagar South station has been completed and the work of platform level is in final stage. The official said that along with this, the work of slab casting of concourse and platform level of Modinagar North station has also been completed.
NCRTC is going to start RapidX trains in priority section by next month. In all, the rapid rail network of 82 km will allow commuters to board trains at speeds up to 160 kmph and reach Delhi to Meerut in just 55 minutes. The entire corridor is expected to be completed by 2025.
