In June 2021, Meta expanded its remote work policy to all full-time employees amid the pandemic. Two years later, Meta has told employees they must come to the office three days a week from September, reports The Information.

Back in March, Zuckerberg suggested that Meta’s policy would be updated due to an internal analysis showing that in-person engineers are more productive.
Zuckerberg said, “Our initial analysis of performance data suggests that engineers who either attended meta in-person and then moved to remote or remained in-person performed better than those who , who joined remotely.”
“This analysis also shows that early in their career engineers, on average, perform better when they work individually with teammates at least three days a week,” he added.
“We are committed to distributed work, and we believe people can make a meaningful impact both from the office and from home,” a Meta spokesperson said in a statement. “We are also committed to continually refining our model to foster the collaboration, relationships and culture that employees need to do their best work.”
Last month, Meta carried out its second round of layoffs, sacking nearly 21,000 employees. It comes after an initial layoff that saw 11,000 workers let go as the company prepared for its “year of efficiency”.
