heard a lot metaverse Space recently. How it could change the way we interact, entertain and shop. While all of this is still a little off, despite all the excitement or some might even call it hype, tech companies seem to be serious in building unified standards around it. In what seems like a step in the same direction, several companies have come together to form an open standards group for the metaverse. called metaverse standards forumIt aims to promote the development of open standards for the metaverse. Big names include Microsoft, Epic Games, Meta and 33 other companies. The first meeting of the group is to be held in July. Here’s what the platform is about and why.
What will the Metaverse Standards Forum do
The Metaverse Standards Forum brings together leading standards organizations and companies for industry-wide collaboration on the interoperability standards needed to build the open Metaverse. The Forum will explore how the lack of interoperability is preventing Metaverse deployment and how the work of Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) defining and developing the required standards can be coordinated and accelerated. The forum aims to focus on practical, action-based projects such as implementation prototyping, hackathons, plugfests, and open-source tooling to accelerate testing and adoption of Metaverse standards, while also developing coherent terminology and deployment guidelines Can you

With companies agreeing on unified standards, users can see products that are more widely usable across platforms. There may be some common technology and innovations that bind these products. Big names joining hands can also help rein in the cost of developing some of these products individually.
what is metaverse
For those who are not sure what the metaverse is. It is a broad term that generally refers to the shared virtual world environment that people can access via the Internet. The term can refer to digital spaces that become more alive with the use of virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR). An example might be the gaming world where users have a character that can move around and interact with other players.
There is also a specific type of metaverse that uses blockchain technology. In this, users can buy virtual land and other digital assets using cryptocurrencies. Some science fiction books and movies are also set entirely in the metaverse, alternate digital worlds indistinguishable from the actual physical world.
