Microsoft: Microsoft stops making Xbox One games: What it means for old console owners – Times of India

Microsoft not developing games for their older generation consoles (Xbox one), a company executive has reportedly said. The change is part of an updated approach at Microsoft to making games for PC and consoles, according to the company’s game studio head Matt Booty.
“We’ve moved on to Gen 9,” Loot was quoted as referring to the Xbox Series X/SConsole. No Xbox Game Studios team is working on a new title for the older console.
Axios cited Loot as saying that the latest strategy will enable Microsoft to deliver gaming output on par with rivals Sony and Nintendo.support for older consoles
However, the company will continue to support previous generation titles like Minecraft and Halo Infiniti.
Xbox One users will be able to play Series X/S titles like Starfield and forza motorsport Through Xbox Cloud Gaming.
“That’s how we’re going to maintain support,” Booty said.
The move away from Xbox One will free Microsoft Teams from the shackles of the previous generation.

However, some third-party developers have raised concerns that not only older consoles but also the Xbox Series S is holding them back. Notably, the Xbox Series S is less powerful than the Series X. According to Booty, “more work” is needed to ensure that games run well on the Series S.
