Prime Minister Narendra Modi started ‘Jal Jan Abhiyan’ from Rajasthan today. The objective of this mission is to motivate people to plant trees and conserve water along with water harvesting.

Modi started it with a virtual program at the Brahma Kumaris Institute in Abu Road (Sirohi). He said that this mission is being started at a time when the world is looking at India for water scarcity. If there is water then there is tomorrow, for this we have to think from today itself.

Modi said that India’s spiritual institutions have a big role to play in the water campaign. In the past decades, we had a negative thinking that we used to leave topics like water conservation and environment as difficult. Used to think that this work cannot be done. This mindset has changed in the last eight years.

The Prime Minister said that India is also celebrating International Millet Year. In our country, millet and jowar have been a part of food and drink for centuries. Their cultivation also takes less water. That's why more and more people should include coarse grains in the food.

56 lakh crore liters of water rains every year

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said – We are the fastest growing population in the world. We depend on rain water only for 40-42 days of monsoon throughout the year.

Every year 2000 billion cusecs (56 lakh crore) of water rains in our country, but out of two thousand billion cusecs of water, only 300 billion cusecs (8.5 lakh crore) are able to stop the water.

We are the biggest country to extract water from the earth. We are followed by America and China, but we are tapping 1.5 times the total usage of those two countries.

We have taken out twenty percent of the water present on our earth, now there is no water there. Most of the water resources in India are getting polluted.

Manoj Muntashir said that I was taught that bread, cloth and house are necessary to live life, but I think one more word was left out which is most important among these, that is water. Water should come before bread.
