More than 15,000 posts were filled in Jammu and Kashmir government departments in 3 years: SSB chairman Rajesh Sharma | India News – Times of India

JAMMU: Over 15,000 vacancies in various government departments were filled in three years, while the selection process for over 8,000 was underway, Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (SSB) chairman. Rajesh Sharma Said.
He said that court litigation by the aggrieved candidates is a major factor for the delay in the recruitment process.
Sharma told PTI here, “As against 9,300 last year, this year SSB filled 4,500 posts in various government departments and out of them 3,400 posts are of class IV. A total of 1,500 posts were filled in the year 2020.”
He said that under the second phase, appointment letters were handed over to the selected candidates for Class IV posts in a special meeting.employment fairsunder the chairmanship of the Lieutenant Governor Hath Sinha in Srinagar and Chief Secretary Arun K Mehta in Jammu recently.
Under the first phase, over 5,000 eligible candidates were given appointment letters last year after the government mandated the Jammu and Kashmir SSB to make recommendations for Class IV recruitment in all departments.
ssb president Said that the list of 1,600 junior assistants is ready with the board, but it has been put on hold due to pending litigation in the tribunal. “Once the verdict is out, the result will be declared.”
Sharma, who took over as the chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board in May and oversaw it after a scandal, said around 8,000 more posts are available in various departments for recruitment.
In July, the Manoj Sinha-led Jammu and Kashmir administration had canceled the exam for the recruitment of police sub-inspectors, junior engineers and finance accounts assistants following allegations of paper leaks and malpractices. On November 12, the CBI probing the sub-inspector recruitment scam filed a charge sheet against 24 arrested people, including the BSF commandant.
Sharma said, “The work of filling 1,400 vacancies in the health and medical education department is likely to be completed very soon. 1,150 posts of junior engineers were advertised for which 15,000 applications have been received.”
He said that 1500 more posts have come for advertisement. “There are some doubts regarding the recruitment rules. Once these are cleared in consultation with the departments concerned, necessary steps will be taken to fill up the vacancies.”
Sharma said, “There were some unforeseen events like the outbreak of COVID-19 (in 2020) and cancellation of exams. But the major factor for the slow pace of the recruitment process is litigation by aggrieved candidates.”
Mentioning various steps taken by the board, including third-party audit and installation of low-frequency jammers, the SSB chairman said all loopholes have been plugged, ensuring that the selection is conducted in a fair and is done without any bias.
“The Lt Governor has repeatedly made it clear that the process of recruitment in government departments will be transparent and there will be zero tolerance for any corrupt practices,” he said.
Seeking the support of job seekers, the official said that anyone having a complaint should directly approach the SSB and seek clarification or raise their concerns.
“We want students to come forward whenever they have any credible information about any kind of misconduct. We are committed to make the recruitment process fairer to ensure justice is done to deserving candidates,” he said. ”
