The massive tech layoffs of 2022 continue into the new year, with Indian companies and startups leading the way in furloughing employees.

More than 1,600 tech workers are being laid off on an average per day in 2023 globally, including in India, and the rate of dismissals has accelerated amid fears of a global economic slowdown and recession.

The year 2023 has started on a bad note for tech workers globally with 91 companies laying off over 24,000 tech workers in the first 15 days of this month, indicating worse things to come.
