MP GVL meets Andhra Governor to disclose SIT report on Visakhapatnam land scams

Amaravathi (Andhra Pradesh) [India]June 2 (ANI): BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP GVL Narasimha Rao on Friday met Andhra Pradesh Governor Abdul Nazir and asked the Governor to disclose the report of two Special Investigation Teams (SIT) in connection with land scams in Visakhapatnam. Memorandum submitted.

The memorandum stated that the governor was requested to direct the state government to issue two SIT reports on “land scams”.

The BJP leader said that after the separation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, large-scale land acquisition took place in Visakhapatnam. GVL said that the present YSRCP government and the previous TDP government have deliberately kept secret the two SIT reports on land scams.

Rao, in his memorandum to the governor, said the previous TDP-led state government had constituted an SIT in 2017, which submitted a major report in 2018, and the present YCP government had also constituted an SIT in 2019 . The SIT submitted its report in September 2021.

He complained that both the SIT reports on the “land grab” have not seen the light of day due to the selfish interests of politicians.

As public interest prevails, it is incumbent upon the State Government to immediately place in the public domain the unmodified, original two reports submitted by the two SITs. He said that the lack of transparency in the present and previous state governments has raised serious doubts.

Rao also alleged that successive state governments were using these reports to patronize land grabbers and benefit from their nefarious nexus with land grabbers.

He asked the state government to come out with a report on the irregularities committed in Visakhapatnam and the action taken against them, as this decision would greatly benefit the public. (ANI)
