‘Murder of democracy’: DK Shivakumar’s big attack after Gujarat HC verdict

Gujarat High Court Refused to grant stay on the order issued by the Sessions Court. The sessions court had sentenced the senior Congress leader to two years in prison in a criminal defamation case filed by BJP MLA Purnesh Modi. Due to the decision of the court, Gandhiji also had to lose the membership of the Lok Sabha.

Congress leader and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar criticized the Gujarat HC’s decision, calling it the ‘murder of democracy’. In a video of DK Shivakumar shared by news agency ANI, he said, “It is very unfortunate that justice has not been done. It is a murder of democracy. But still the whole country, all the opposition parties and the people of this country are standing.” By Rahul ji. He is a great leader who is fighting across the country.

Another Congress leader Pawan Kumar Bansal said the Gujarat High Court’s judgment in the Modi surname defamation case was “wrong”. He told ANI, ”We have always respected the judiciary and held it in high esteem, but we believe this judgment is wrong – both on facts as well as in law.

Congress party has said that they will approach the Supreme Court in the defamation case. Rahul Gandhi, Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said after the Gujarat HC verdict, “We have one more option… the Supreme Court. Let’s see. The Congress party will explore that option as well.”

On the other hand, BJP MP and senior leader Ravi Shankar Prasad hit back at the Congress and Rahul Gandhi after the Gujarat HC verdict. He said, “We want to ask the Congress – why can’t you control Rahul Gandhi? Why can’t you train him to speak properly? He is your leader. If he had apologized in this matter, he would have It would have been over…” It has become an old habit of Rahul Gandhi to abuse, defame and almost worst kind of abuses against eminent leaders and organizations.”
