Why is Kasturi leaving
In a tweet, Musk said he was “excited to announce that I have a new CEO for X/Twitter.” He also confirmed that the new CEO will take charge soon. “She’ll be starting in ~6 weeks!” Musk said in the tweet.
On stepping down in his role, Musk said it would be his “role transition to executive chairman and CTO, overseeing product, software and sysops.”
Earlier this year, Musk said he wanted to first stabilize the organization and then appoint a new CEO. “I think I need to stabilize the organization and ensure that it is in a healthy place financially and that the product roadmap is clearly laid out,” he said at a conference in Dubai.
He also indicated that Twitter would be in a stable state of being run by someone else. “I’m guessing that maybe the end of this year should be a good time to find someone else to run the company because I think it should be in a stable position by the end of this year.”
There was also a time in between when he jokingly said that his dog is the CEO of Twitter. He also stated that “I will resign as CEO as soon as I find a fool to take over the job! After that, I will just run the software and server teams.”
In a sarcastic comment made in a Twitter Space conversation with the BBC, Musk said that he has indeed stepped down as CEO of Twitter. “I stood down,” he said. “I keep telling you I’m not the CEO of Twitter, my dog is the CEO of Twitter.”
