Muslim side objects to plea for puja at Mathura mosque | Allahabad News – Times of India

PRAYAGRAJ: The management committee of Mathura’s Shahi Masjid Idgah Wednesday challenged an application moved before Allahabad high court by a Hindu plaintiff, Ashutosh Pandey, seeking permission to perform ‘Bassoda Puja‘ at ‘Krishna Koop‘ on the mosque premises.
The HC, which is hearing a bunch of 18 petitions on the dispute transferred from various courts of Mathura, has fixed April 1 for hearing. Justice Mayank Kumar Jain is hearing applications regarding maintainability of the suit.
In his application, Pandey said every year, Hindu devotees perform “puja and archana (prayer rituals)” on the premises of the disputed property on the occasion of Bassoda Puja. This year, these rituals fall on April 1 and 2 as ‘Mata Sheetla Saptami’ and ‘Ashtami’, but the Muslim side is preventing the Hindu devotees from performing the puja, Pandey said in his petition.
The Muslim side said no order on such a plea could be passed while the maintainability of the suit itself was pending before the court.
