NAeL will make drones for agriculture sector, MoU signed. Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: For the first time in the state nine aerospace Engineering Limited (NAeL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence, will manufacture the drone which will be capable of carrying a payload of around 25 kg and can be used by the farming fraternity .
NAEL on Saturday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a South India based company named Garuda Aerospace (GA) for cooperation in the manufacturing of drones. nine -based public sector unit will start manufacturing these heavy-duty drones by the end of next month.
“This unique initiative is expected to generate employment and boost economic activity in the Naini Industrial Area, which is also an education hub. This will be the first drone manufacturing facility in northern India, with the potential to add tremendous value to industries such as security and monitoring, agriculture, land mapping etc. to meet the requirements within the country”, CEO, NAEL, RR said thakur,
This partnership will enhance indigenization of imported components required to manufacture the drone. He said most of the components, which comprise about 75%, are currently being imported from China and other western countries.
Thakur said, “Keeping in view the shortage of manpower and high investment in agriculture sector, it is envisaged to provide a cost-effective solution to our farmers to enhance their productivity using technology enabled drones, especially during the day- Designed to meet everyday farming needs.”
The drone is specially designed with a take-off weight of 25.5 kg and will cover a range of 500 m with a speed of 5 m/s. The spraying capacity of the drone is 1500-2550 sq.m/min. Naini-based NAEL started its production in July 2017 and earlier grabbed headlines for bagging orders for manufacturing looms for Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas and ALH. Pole Helicopter. Later, NAeL started assembly of structures for Dhruv helicopters. NAEL is also undertaking loom work of Cheetah, Chetak and Dornier aircraft and helicopters. More than 10,000 looms have been manufactured and installed in aircraft.
Recently there has been a proposal to start a course Remote Pilot Training Organization ,RPTO) has been forwarded to DGCA and is likely to start soon after getting formal approval, informed the CEO.
