Abdullah said that Bharat Jodo Yatra is showing its results and if we have to keep the country together then we all have to work together and there should be no fighting on religious grounds.

National Conference President Farooq Abdullah congratulated the people here on Saturday. Karnataka Or “reject” those who want to divide the country on religious lines.

Regarding the third G20 Tourism Working Group meeting in Kashmir later this month, he hoped that it would help in promoting tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.

However, he expressed displeasure over the rising air fares in the Srinagar sector.

“Look at the airfares. Today if you want to come from Delhi to Srinagar, a ticket costs Rs 24,000. But, the return airfare to Dubai is Rs 25,000. Then how will tourism grow? Unless airfares are deregulated goes so that one person or one family can afford it, tourism will not grow,” he said.

Abdullah appealed to the Center to help GoFirst airline so that it can resume its operations.

“GoAir (as it was known earlier) needs help. Around eight flights of the airline used to take off from here and the air fares also remained in check. Since it stopped operations, air fares have skyrocketed. Therefore, I appeal to the Center to provide some assistance to the airline so that it can run its operations.”

Meanwhile, celebrations broke out at the Congress headquarters at MA Road here after the party’s stupendous performance in the Karnataka elections.

Party workers, including women, danced to the beats of drums and distributed sweets.

“We are very happy with this victory,” Saira Shamim, district president of the party’s women’s wing, told PTI video.

He said Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra has helped the party register victory in the southern state.

“Travel has helped. Rahul ji worked honestly and people understood that Congress is really a secular party.
