Navy’s CAR campaign covering ‘entire coastline’ flagged off from Kolkata

An Indian Navy organized car drive covering the entire 7,500 km coastline to encourage maritime consciousness was flagged off from Kolkata on March 26 by the Chief of the Naval Staff and the Naval Officer-in-Charge in West Bengal.

The expedition, named ‘Sam No Varunah’, was flagged off from the Naval Headquarters at INS Netaji Subhash, West Bengal.

Organized in association with the Navy Welfare and Wellness Association (NWWA), the maritime awareness Coastal Motor Car campaign, which covered the entire Indian coast from Kolkata to Lakhpat in Gujarat, was flagged off by Admiral R.K. Hari Kumar flagged off virtually. and on the ground by Cmde Rituraj Sahoo, NOIC, West Bengal.

According to an official release, it will arrive at INS Chilka on March 28 to mark the passing out of the first batch of ‘Agniveers’ of the Navy.

The rally will culminate at Lakhpat on April 23, with an awareness campaign in towns and villages aimed at providing information about employment opportunities in the Navy including the ‘Agneepath’ scheme.

The visit will also focus on women in the Navy, and interactions with Navy veterans and ‘Veer Naris’ have been planned, the release said.
