New Damu Nagar Residents Welfare Association: Board of residents’ association that denied entry to public park removed Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore: The municipal corporation has removed a board put up by the New Damu Nagar Residents Welfare Association, denying entry to non-members at a public park in Puliyakulam.
Following an article published in TOI on Monday, a team from Central Zone removed the board the same day. “We have instructed the association members not to put up such boards again. Since the park is owned by the corporation, it has been made clear that the facility is for all and the association cannot restrict the entry of others,” said a corporation official.
TOI published the article on Monday after people from neighboring areas complained about the ban. He said that the members of the association have made the park Play Club and others from using the facility.
The official said that there was already a board installed inside the park stating that the land belonged to the municipal corporation. “It was established after a person from the area who had developed the park prevented others from entering it. We resolved the issue a few years ago and opened the park for all.
