Nikki Haley overtakes Ron DeSantis, moves to second place in New Hampshire: Poll – Times of India

Despite all his legal troubles, former US President Donald Trump continues to enjoy a commanding lead among Republican voters. Since April, Trump has been indicted four times and is facing over 90 cases. He has refused to take part in both GOP presidential debates so far. Yet, Trump is continually leading the Republican presidential race.
In the key primary state of New Hampshire, Donald Trump has emerged as the frontrunner for the 2024 presidential nomination, according to a poll released by Suffolk University for the Boston Globe and USA Today. Trump maintains a commanding lead over his rivals, securing 49% support among primary voters.
However, survey is more revealing about other GOP presidential aspirants. Indian-American candidate Nikki Haley has seen a steady rise in her support in last few months. Haley, the former South Carolina governor who served as Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations, clinched the second position with 19% support, marking her highest level of backing in New Hampshire primary polls.
Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida and a prominent contender for the nomination, fell to a distant third place in the race for the nomination in New Hampshire, capturing only 10% support.
Other candidates received single-digit support, with former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie at 6%, tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott each at 4%. Former Vice President Mike Pence and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum trailed significantly, each with just 1% support. The remaining 4% of voters remained undecided.
Now only in New Hampshire, Haley has consistently held the second position after Trump in crucial early primary and caucus states such as Iowa, and South Carolina too.
Following last week’s GOP primary debate, the Trump campaign launched a series of statements against Haley. Early Sunday, while she was campaigning in Iowa, she reported that the Trump Campaign left a birdcage along with bird food outside her hotel room.
A recent poll conducted by JL Partners for the Daily Mail has revealed that Haley is the top Republican candidate capable of defeating US President Joe Biden in the White House race, particularly among independent voters. Following the second Republican debate this week, Haley garnered a two-point lead over the incumbent president, securing 40% to Biden’s 38% in the survey, which involved 1,000 likely voters and was conducted from September 15 to 20.
