NOIDA: The Greater Noida Authority has issued a notice to Supertech, a real estate developer, after complaints from residents of Ecovillage 1 that around 100 shops were operating on the society’s premises.
The notice, the third to be issued by the authority’s planning department over the last month, says possession of the shops was given without taking occupation or completion certificates and must be removed in 15 days.
“There are shops on all floors. A notice was issued to the developer earlier too for illegally opening a gate for the market complex and encroaching on a green belt. A second notice was also sent after the developer failed to act,” Manish Kumar, a resident of the society, said.
According to GNIDA officials, in the first notice, the authority directed the developer to remove the unauthorised gate constructed in front of the commercial market within 10 days. Due to non-compliance with the order, the Authority again issued a notice, about a week ago, directing the builder to remove the illegal construction within 15 days.
“The authority has again issued a fresh notice to the builder a few days back seeking an explanation why these shops continued to operate without any occupation or completion certificates,” Kumar said.
The notice issued by the authority states: “A complaint has been made regarding the construction of the commercial block in plot no. GH 08, Sector 01, where action is being taken to give possession of the shops without getting the completion of the work. In this regard, you are informed to remove the unauthorised construction and inform the authority within 15 days, from the date of issue of the letter. If you do not present your side/clarification, it will be assumed that you have nothing to say in this regard, and it will be assumed that you are violating the rules of the authority. For which legal action will be taken against you as per rules.”
A spokesperson from Supertech said they were yet to receive any notice from the GNIDA.

The university’s vice-chancellor has promised to investigate the matter and take appropriate action if the allegations are substantiated.

HC issues notice over continuance of lapsed ODPs
The Bombay High Court in Goa has issued a notice regarding the continuation of lapsed outline development plans (ODPs) in several villages. The notice was sent to the town and country planning department and others. A public interest litigation (PIL) filed by the Goa Foundation and Roshan Mathias alleged that the ODPs were withdrawn as planning areas, but an illegal circular was issued to maintain the zoning. The PIL claims that this circular is contrary to the TCP Act and enables arbitrary changes in land use in the villages.
