The former Chief Minister of Karnataka said that his party is following discussions in the media about uniting other parties against the ruling Congress in Karnataka.

Senior BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday said there has been no discussion at the state level regarding an electoral tie-up with the JD(S) for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and added that it is difficult to predict the future of politics.

The former Chief Minister of Karnataka said that his party is following discussions in the media about uniting other parties against the ruling Congress in Karnataka.

“There has been no discussion at the state level, let’s see in the coming days, it is difficult to predict the future in politics,” Bommai told reporters here in response to a question on the pact with the JD(S).

On the question of Congress uniting other parties to form an “alliance”, he said, “Such things are happening loudly in the press, and discussions are being held on all channels in this regard, we are watching.” Are.” Following the results of the assembly elections, there were reports in a section of the media that the JD(S) would forge an alliance with the BJP to contest the Lok Sabha elections. It was also said that JD(S) leader and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy had met some senior BJP leaders during his recent visit to New Delhi.

Interestingly, Kumaraswamy on Monday said that a decision on electoral pact for the Lok Sabha polls would be taken when the situation arises and he has no proposal yet to contest the parliamentary elections.

Kumaraswamy was responding to a question on speculation about a possible alliance between the BJP and the JD(S) for the Lok Sabha elections and whether they would contest in that election.

The BJP won 25 of the total 28 seats in the state in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka, while an independent won one seat. Congress and JD(S) bagged one seat each.
