Twitter Limiting how many tweets per day can be read by different accounts is being done to discourage “excessive levels” of data scraping and system manipulation, executive chairman Elon Musk said in a post on the social media platform on Saturday.
Verified accounts were initially limited to reading 6,000 posts a day, unverified accounts would be limited to 600 posts a day and new unverified accounts would be limited to 300, Musk said.
Musk said in a separate post, without giving further details, that the temporary reading limit was later increased to 10,000 posts per day for verified users, 1,000 posts per day for unverified and 500 posts per day for new unverified users. .
Earlier, Twitter had announced that users would have to have an account on the social media platform to view tweets, Musk has taken this step called on friday A “temporary emergency measure.”
Musk had said that hundreds of organizations or more were scraping Twitter data “very aggressively”, affecting the user experience.
Musk had earlier expressed displeasure over companies like Artificial Intelligence OpenAIOwners of ChatGPT, to use Twitter’s data to train their big language models.
Twitter shut down for thousands of users on Saturday morning, according to outage tracking website DownDetector.com.
Around 7,500 users on the social media platform reported problems accessing the app during the peak of the outage at around 11:17AM ET (8:47PM IST).
The social media platform had previously taken several steps to bring back advertisers who had left Musk-owned Twitter and boost subscription revenue by making the verification check mark part of the Twitter Blue program.
