No Upper Hand For Udf, Left Would Emerge As Decisive Force: Viswam | Thiruvananthapuram News – Times of India

Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary Binoy Viswam on Thursday dismissed the pre-poll surveys predicting a clear edge to UDF in the Lok Sabha election as nonsense. Viswam said the Left block would emerge as a decisive force in the election, adding that the BJP-led NDA would not get another term to run the govt.
Speaking at a ‘meet the press’ event, the CPI state secretary said Congress workers have proved beyond doubts that they would cross over to BJP side any time.“How many are in the Congress camp who can withstand the lure of money in case there is a hung Parliament? How many of them could face ED, I-T and revenue intelligence, without fear? Though we don’t rejoice over the predicament of Congress, it is a fact,” he said.
Viswam also rejected the arguments that the fight in Thiruvananthapuram constituency was between sitting MP Shashi Tharoor and BJP candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar. He accused Tharoor of sharing the opinion of BJP on Babri Masjid and Palestine issues. “Congress party should clarify whether it subscribed to Tharoor’s stand that Muslims themselves should have shifted Babri Masjid to another place and Israel and Hamas are equals. This all shows how short is the distance from Congress to BJP,” he said.
The CPI secretary said the priests who have taken the initiative to screen the film ‘Kerala Story’ should read Vicharadara of RSS. Referring to the candidacy of Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad, Viswam said it proved how short-sighted Congress leaders were. “If RSS was the real enemy, Rahul should have fought BJP, not CPI in Wayanad,” he said.
