Not party’s programme…: Sanjay Raut targets Center over Parliament inauguration controversy

He said, “This issue is a matter of respect for the President and the Constitution… No invitation is given to the President, not even to the former President, why? This is not a party programme…”

Raut Said on Wednesday that his party would join other opposition parties in boycotting the inauguration of the new parliament building. He told reporters that President Draupadi Murmu is the head of Parliament and the Narendra Modi government was neglecting her by not inviting her to the event on May 28.

Raut said, “All opposition leaders are boycotting the event because the government has not invited the President, a tribal woman.” At first there was no need for a new parliament building, as the existing one could last for another 100 years.

However, amidst the boycott and tussle, many parties, including non-NDA parties, have agreed to attend the inauguration ceremony on Sunday.

25 parties will be involved in the inauguration

A total of twenty-five parties are going to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament House in the national capital Delhi on Sunday.

Besides the BJP, several parties in the NDA, including the AIADMK, Apna Dal, Republican Party of India, Shiv Sena’s Shinde faction, NPP and NPF have confirmed their participation in the ceremony on Sunday.

Several neutral parties including Biju Janata Dal, TDP and YSRCP will be present for the inauguration.

Opposition parties including Shiromani Akali Dal and Bahujan Samajwadi Party and JDS will participate in Sunday’s ceremony.

Notably, a total of nineteen opposition parties have said they will boycott the event with ‘count us in’.
