Noted theater actor and director Aamir Raza Hussain, known for big outdoor stage productions like “The Fifty Day War” and “The Legend of Ram” based on the Kargil war, has passed away at the age of 66. He was also the creative director. Stagedoor Theater Company, established in 1974, has presented over 91 productions and over 1,100 performances. The actor was best known for unforgettable stage plays like ‘The Fifty Day War’ (2000) and ‘The Legend of Ram’. He is survived by his wife, muse and creative partner Virat Talwar.

Hussain was born into an aristocratic family in Lucknow on January 6, 1957, and made his debut at the prestigious Mayo College in Ajmer, playing the role of craftsman Tom Snout in William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. His interest grew in the rich cultural landscape of Delhi’s St. Stephen’s College, where Hussain graduated in History in 1977. Shashi Tharoor and watching a Kerala MP play the role of Antony in Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra.

On social media, Hussain introduced himself by posting, “To mispronounce the bard, all my world is a stage”. The theater director, actor and writer, who took over the Stagedoor Theater in 1974, was a veteran of thousands of shows and hundreds of plays. Their audience included presidents such as Shankar Dayal Sharma, who watched Move Over, a laugh riot about the events that unfold when several couples line up for an apartment thinking it is vacant.

Aamir Raj has worked in the superhit films ‘Bahubali’ and ‘RRR’. He will also be seen in the film ‘Adipurush’ which will release on June 16. In 1984, his film ‘Kim’ came in front of the audience. Also in 2014, he appeared in front of the audience through the film ‘Khoobsurat’. They were seen together in this romantic film Sonam Kapoor and Fawad.

Amir Raza Hussain was awarded the Padma Shri by the government for his contribution to theatre. Amir Raza Hussain tied the knot with actress Virat Talwar in 1993. Amir Raza Hussain and Virat have two children, Sukina and Ghulam Ali Abbas. Amir Raza Hussain was a popular actor on stage. He has entertained the audience by acting in many famous plays.
