Mudumalai National Park is the same animal reserve that shot to fame after the release of the Oscar-winning documentary The Elephant Whispers.

Animal lovers have been delighted by the heart-warming visuals of a beautiful herd of elephants grazing in the Mudumalai National Park. It was Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Supriya Sahu who shared the clip online on Thursday morning via Twitter. Posting the video, she revealed that the visuals were recorded during her latest visit to the animal reserve. She was on her way back to Mysore when a herd of elephants caught the officer’s attention. It appears that she was traveling through the animal transit area and made it a point to follow the rules by not stopping the vehicle as it not only disturbs the ecology.

In the video, a herd of three elephants can be seen grazing freely inside the forest area. Mudumalai National Park is the same animal reserve that shot to fame after the release of the Oscar-winning short film documentary The Elephant Whispers. It is home to an indigenous tribe that not only takes care of the elephants but also worships them as sacred deities. The IAS officer captioned the video, “Met this beautiful family happily eating together sometime back on the way from Mudumalai to Mysore.” Check it out here:

Within hours the video managed to garner thousands of views on the micro-blogging site, garnering enthusiastic responses from elephant lovers. A user commented, ‘The family that eats together, stays together.’

Another wrote, “Amazing. It’s really beautiful to see the elephants.”

One user claimed to explain the unspoken message conveyed through the clip, “An important message from this video. Never stop your vehicle for photographs and videos of wild animals while transiting through the reserve forest. Thank you for following the rules.”

Meanwhile, another highlight was thrown on animal encroachment, “I hope humans do not encroach on wildlife habitats. Imagine if someone encroaches on a human’s property. The same rule applies to wildlife. Encroachers There should be strict laws to book and punish the criminals.

Mudumalai National Park is located in the Nilgiri Mountains of Tamil Nadu. It is home to Theppakadu Elephant Camp which was established over a century ago.
