A recent leak has hinted that the Nothing Phone 2a may skip the brand’s iconic glyph lighting interface. Here’s what we know.

Late last year, rumours surfaced about an alleged “affordable” phone from Nothing, named the Nothing Phone 2a. Nothing eventually confirmed the existence of the device but failed to provide any key details. Since the initial leak, numerous images have flooded the internet, offering hints about what the device may look like. Now, a purported render of the device showcasing a “revamped” back panel, courtesy of leaks from OnLeaks and SmartPrix, has come out.

The leaked render features the back panel of the Phone 2a, revealing a radical redesign—skipping the Glyph Lightning interface that both the Nothing Phone 1 and Phone 2 are known for. This could be big potential change, and differs from anything else that we have seen so far.

The design, overall, is reminiscent of the previous models and sports a dual-camera setup tucked away in the top left. This is unlike some of the other leaks that we have seen so far, which presented a centre-aligned camera module. Also, from the images, it isn’t clear if the Phone 2a would feature a translucent panel made of glass or another material, but it does feature the classic see-through industrial look that Nothing is known for. Notably, there is also no visible wireless charging coil.

It should be noted that this could be a pre-production unit, and the design isn’t final yet. Therefore, it should be taken with a grain of salt. Also, Nothing’s co-founder Akis Evangelidis took to X to post about the same. He posted “…” Now, what does this mean? Only time will tell.

Nothing Phone 2a Expected Specifications

Reports have suggested that the Nothing Phone 2a will come with a dual-camera setup consisting of the 50-megapixel Samsung S5KGN9 sensor, which comes with a 1/1.5-inch sensor size and 1.0-micron pixel size. The secondary ultrawide lens, on the other hand, could be a 50-megapixel Samsung S5KJN1 ultrawide unit that comes with a 1/2.76-inch sensor size.

Moreover, it is expected to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chip and feature an OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
