Guwahati: College students Assam Must undergo evaluation every month, the Assam Higher Education Department has ordered, asking all government and provincial colleges to desist from delaying the announcement of semester-end or internal examinations.
Steps have been taken to implement National As stated in the notification, the Education Policy 2020 will also be applicable for compliance by all higher educational institutions in the state.
With the new academic session starting in colleges from August, the department has ordered the evaluation of answer sheets of internal examinations to be completed within a week and semester-end examinations to be announced within a month of the completion of the examinations. The order said that the starting time of the working hours of the college will also be extended by one hour and continue from 9 am to 5 pm.
“Once in a month there should be an evaluation meeting on the guidance of the students. Reports on these evaluation meetings should be uploaded as part of the academic module Samarth eGov Portal,” read the latest notification.
For regular mentoring of students, it said that once a month there should be an evaluation meeting on mentoring which should be documented.
Officials said that in order to make the monthly assessment of the students useful, the answer sheets of the internal assessment should be checked and returned to the students within seven days of the examination. For semester examinations, evaluation of answer sheets is to be completed within 15 days from the date of completion of examinationThe notification states, and the result should be published within a month.
It states, “Exams, both internal and external, must be taken seriously. There should be a fixed model for the conduct of internal examinations and return of the evaluated scripts within the stipulated time frame. The work of evaluation of script of external examination and declaration of result should also be completed on time. Defaulters need to be made accountable.”
There were instances when the results were not declared till three months after the completion of the examinations.
