Guwahati: Meghalaya State Congress Committee President cum MP Vincent H Pala Amid high anti-incumbency wave, NPP and Trinamool Congress (TMC) are in “secret understanding” with BJP To prevent their “common enemy” Congress from returning to power in the state.
The Congress on Saturday released its final list of candidates for the February 27 Meghalaya Assembly elections, a senior Congress leader said on Sunday.
The five candidates are Jhanika Siangshai (Khalihariyat), Arbiankam Khar Sohmat (Amlarem), Chireng Peter R Marak (Kharkutta), Dr Tweel K Marak (Resubelpara) and Karla R Sangma (Rajbala). The party had on January 25 announced the names of 55 candidates for the 60-member state assembly.
He said, ‘NPP and BJP are doing drama trying to show that they are divided. This week there was a clear indication from their leaders that both the parties are together. Everyone says that TMC is in collusion with BJP in Meghalaya. Frost Told.
Pala said that TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee may take an anti-BJP stand in her home state, but many local leaders of her party’s Meghalaya unit are in constant touch with the BJP. “Everyone knows that once the TMC candidates win, they will join the BJP,” he said. Pala said TMC leaders in Meghalaya would defect to help the BJP as Mamata’s party would not openly forge an alliance with the BJP.
