O Panneerselvam says he will remain in NDA till BJP breaks ties

Expelled AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam on Thursday said that he would remain in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) until the BJP severed its ties with him. However, he was not invited to participate in NDA meeting held in New Delhi On Tuesday, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders of the alliance participated.

Speaking to media persons at the Madurai airport, he said that though there was no invitation to attend the Delhi meeting, he would remain with the NDA as a member. He said, “Until they break the relationship, I will be a part of it.” The BJP had invited the Edappadi K Palaniswami-led AIADMK for the NDA meeting.

Central and state governments should immediately control the chaos in Manipur. “Atrocities against women were disturbing. Governments must find solutions for lasting peace in the riot-torn state,” he said.

On the raids and searches by central agencies against some DMK ministers, he said it was not a new thing in Tamil Nadu. “Whichever party came to power, they registered cases and conducted raids. It is up to the individuals (in this case both the ministers) to prove their innocence before the courts and come out clean.

On Chief Minister MK Stalin’s statement that the DMK would not be cowed down by such threats by the BJP, Mr. Panneerselvam said that filing cases against political opponents has become a routine.
