Odisha: NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu wins hearts by sweeping the temple floor. Bhubaneswar News – Times of India

BHUBANESWAR: A day after the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) named Drupadi Murmu As her presidential candidate, she drew huge applause from people for sweeping the floor of a temple in Rayangpur Basti in Mayurbhanj district, where she usually resides.
The Santal tribal leader visited at least three temples in Rairangpur in the early hours. She was seen sweeping the floor of the Poorneshwar Shiva temple before offering prayers there.

“It shows the simplicity and decency of the leader. No one could have been a better candidate for the presidency than him. It is a proud moment for the tribal community of Odisha and the country,” said state BJP president Sameer Mohanty.
It is very common for Odia women to sweep the streets in front of their homes and temples. Mohanty said that culture is inherent in them.
Murmu also visited Prajapita Brahma Kumari Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya in Rairangpur and offered prayers there.
Retired professor of political science Jayant Mohapatra said Murmu is the most different among politicians. “His simplicity and humility are worth noting. It sends a very positive message to the world,” he said.
“I feel proud as a woman. She is so cultured. Her election to the presidency is a fitting tribute to all the women of India,” said Reena Mahakud, a homemaker in Bhubaneswar.

On Wednesday, a huge crowd of well-wishers gathered at Rayangpur’s residence here. Congratulatory messages poured in for Murmu. Taking inspiration from Chief Minister and BJD President Naveen Patnaik, many of his colleagues congratulated the tribal leader. “I extend my heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Draupadi Murmu on being chosen as the NDA candidate for the highest post of the country. This is a proud moment for Odisha,” tweeted BJD Rajya Sabha member Amar Patnaik.
