Opposition meeting: A meeting of key opposition parties concluded in Bengaluru on Tuesday to chalk out a strategy for building a united front against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). At the end of the two-day meeting, leaders of all 26 parties held a joint press conference. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge officially opened the press briefing by announcing the name of the opposition’s United Front – India – (Indian National Democratic Inclusive Alliance). Trinamool Congress (TMC) President and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed the reporters.

Speaking at the press conference, Banerjee asked, NDA, can you challenge India.

“It (opposition meeting) was constructive and fruitful and the real challenge begins today. The only work of governance at the Center today is to buy and sell governments. I want to ask BJP and NDA, can they challenge India. India will win, our country will win and the BJP will lose,” he said.

Mamta said, India will win, NDA will lose.

“We have to save India as BJP is trying to sell the country,” he said.

Starting her speech, she interestingly showed solidarity with former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray by saying that she will not call him ex-CM as he will soon become CM again.

Resolution passed in opposition meeting

“We, the undersigned leaders of 26 progressive parties of India, express our determination to defend the idea of ​​India as enshrined in the Constitution. The character of our republic is under serious attack in a systematic manner by the BJP. turning point in the history of India. The fundamental pillars of the Indian Constitution – secular democracy, economic sovereignty, social justice and federalism – are being systematically and dangerously undermined,” read the collective resolution (resolution) of 26 political parties passed at the meeting .
