A preliminary consensus has been reached on fielding a common candidate against the BJP. Fifteen big and small parties participated in the meeting of opposition parties held in Patna. However, KCR from Telangana, Naveen Patnaik from Orissa and YS Jaganmohan Reddy from YSR Congress did not attend the meeting.

Except these, almost all the parties from Kashmir to Kanyakumari were present in the meeting. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced that we have all agreed to fight the Lok Sabha elections together. The next meeting for seat sharing will be held in Shimla.

All the leaders agreed that there will be minor differences among all of us, but since this is a fight of ideology, we have to stay together in any situation. On the other hand, the condition laid by Arvind Kejriwal a day before for attending the meeting was accepted. All the parties appealed to the Congress to support the AAP in the Ordinance issue of Delhi. It is worth mentioning that by bringing an ordinance in the past, the Center had taken away many rights of the Delhi government.

Meanwhile, a strange kind of commotion was seen in the BJP in the wake of this meeting. In view of this meeting in Patna, BJP workers put up various posters against the opposition leaders.

In some posters, the opposition leaders were called thugs of Hindustan, while in some posters it was written, “There is attack everywhere, there will be all thieves in Bihar”, while in another poster it was written, “From which mouth are the killers of democracy coming to JP’s land today? Are? Do you want to impose emergency once again in the country?

On the other hand, Home Minister Amit Shah taunted the opposition unity – the opposition is never going to be united. Photo session of opposition leaders is going on in Patna. Nothing more or different than this.

In response, Mamta Banerjee said after attending the Patna meeting – All the meetings we held in Delhi proved unsuccessful, but the Patna meeting was very positive. Nitish Kumar’s efforts finally paid off. In any case, we will fight the elections together now. No differences or any external force will be able to deter us from our goals.

In this meeting, discussion was also held on making Nitish Kumar the coordinator of the opposition unity or whatever name will be decided for this alliance later. What was the result of this discussion, it has not been announced yet, but probably the name will be announced in the next meeting.

Regarding this meeting, many BJP leaders took a lot of taunts against Nitish Kumar and especially against the Congress, saying that the opposition unity is just a show. These parties can never unite because they have their own interests in different states with which they can never compromise. In this meeting itself, Abdullah took a jibe at AAP that he was surprised about AAP’s stand on Article 370.
