On Friday, a case has been registered against the chairman and members of the committee, tractor owners and tractor drivers under sections 143, 279,283, 287, 336 of sub-section 149 of the IPC.
Rope pulling is a traditional sport in which ropes are pulled by people on opposite sides. However, the Jatra Samiti of Chamankeri had organized tractor pulling ropes on the lines of Punjab, where ropes are pulled by tractors from the opposite direction.
It is a dangerous sport as tractors can be dropped and cause damage to the drivers and the people sitting on the tractor. An exciting video of a tractor pulling a rope had gone viral on social media platforms.
According to the FIR, a tractor rope pulling game was organized on the Chamankeri-Athani road, which caused inconvenience to thousands of people visiting the Jatra site. In the event of a rope being cut, it could harm people’s lives. It has been said in the FIR that it is an offense to organize such games without permission.
