US President Joe Biden declared himself “outraged and deeply pained” Friday by newly released footage showing the fatal police beating of Tyra Nichols, a 29-year-old black man from Memphis.
In a statement, Biden urged protesters to remain peaceful, saying “the footage that has been released this evening will rightly outrage people.”
“Those seeking justice should not resort to violence or destruction,” Biden said.
