Overwhelming response to The Hindu Education Plus Career Counseling

21scheduled tribe The edition of ‘The Hindu Education Plus-Career Counseling-2023’ on Saturday (June 3) at NMKRV College Auditorium, Bengaluru received an overwhelming response from students and parents.

Around 30 higher education institutions including medical and engineering colleges and banks were available under one roof, which was attended by over 1,000 students and parents.

Since morning, students and parents were seen busy in getting information about college, course, fee structure, infrastructure, placement and other things. Students and parents also got information about COMED-K, CET and other courses from the experts in various sessions.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, who inaugurated the event, said, “The economy is opening up with so many opportunities in many fields like technology, humanities, journalism, entertainment, healthcare and others. Every day new opportunities are coming up and some are closing. So this is the right time for the students to take appropriate decisions which will have an impact on your life and career. The Hindu is providing a wonderful opportunity to the students to interact with the experts.

He also said that career is not dependent on how many marks you get and asked the students to build their personality, confidence and broad outlook.

Speaking about civil services, CK Baba, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South-East Division, Bengaluru, said, “Whatever you plan to do, you must have passion. That passion won’t come from what you read or study. It comes from the inbuilt emotion that we all experience.”

“If you are a CSE aspirant, it is very important to understand deeply what you have studied during your entire graduation process… If you want to go a long way, really want to make a big contribution to the system, So you have to deeply understand the things that you study in your syllabus,” he said, answering a series of questions raised by the students.

Speaking about medicine, Dr. Divya Sudresh, Ophthalmologist, Ramaiah Medical College and Hospital, Bengaluru said, “Doctoring is an evergreen career, and you always get jobs in this field. Every step of the duty of the doctor is the service of the country and the society. There are lot of opportunities for doctors in India as well as abroad.

Ramesh Babu HS, Principal and Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, RNS Institute of Technology, Bengaluru spoke about engineering education. “Engineering aspirants need to make a list of good engineering colleges in Bengaluru and Karnataka and find out what courses they have. You should get all the information about engineering colleges: people behind the department, resources they have, achievements of the students, what kind of companies are coming for placements. Follow your passion and choose the course. No course is bad. If you study the syllabus with full passion and dedication, you will get good marks and a good job.”

Talking about the CET, Dr HR Shivakumar, Administrative Officer, KEA said, “KEA is conducting the entrance exam for professional courses like Engineering, B.Sc Sehmat, BVSc, Pharmacy and B.Sc Nursing courses from this year onwards. We also provide counseling for Medical, Dental, Ayush and Architecture courses. After the CET result, KEA will announce the counseling schedule for engineering and other courses.

“KEA will conduct online document verification. Which documents are required to be submitted and how to verify is very important. Make a list of documents required when you go for counselling, such as class 10 and 12 mark card, study certificate, constitutional reservation certificate and others. All information will be provided in KEA website. Hence, students must check the KEA website at least two to three times in a day,” he said.

Amin E-Mudassar, Career Counselor and CEO, CIGMA said, “Students should learn multiple skills, upgrade themselves and try to acquire knowledge online. Do not choose your career by getting influenced by others. Be open, and don’t finalize before you clear. Read career supplements and magazines, bust myths and accept facts. At the end of your graduation, you should have at least five internships.
