It was earlier reported that Ranveer Singh was in talks with Pa Ranjith for the Tamil filmmaker’s Hindi debut. However, the director has clarified that while he is making his debut film in Hindi, the hero is not decided yet and will be announced soon.
Speaking to the Hindustan Times, he said, “I am doing a film in Hindi but the hero has not been decided yet. It will be announced at the right time.” It was earlier said that Pa Ranjith and Ranveer Singh were in talks to collaborate on an action entertainer.
The project is reportedly said to delve into the life of Birsa Munda, a tribal freedom fighter who resisted British colonial rule in the 19th century. Pa Ranjith has been actively working on developing this project for the past two years, the reports suggest. The reports also claim that the film is expected to begin production by the end of this year.
Meanwhile, the director is gearing up for Thangalaan, a political drama with Vikram. Speaking about the film, Pa Ranjith said, “It’s an interesting film that takes place during the colonial period. It’s set in the KGF gold mines and about the freedom the oppressed people, who worked in the mines, wanted. Was their leader able to fulfil their wishes? The story revolves around this.”
As for Ranveer Singh, he was last seen in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani with Alia Bhatt. He will also be seen in Shaktiman soon. Ranveer Singh also has Don 3 in the pipeline. He will be taking Farhan Akhtar’s franchise forward by replacing Shah Rukh Khan. The film will also feature Kiara Advani. Some reports suggest that Priyanka Chopra will reprise her role as Roma in the film. However, there is no official confirmation on this yet.
