PAC assistant commandant, wife attempted suicide. – times of India

Kanpur: Assistant Commandant, 28th Corps of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), Rakesh Kumar Nayak (55) and his wife attempted suicide on Tuesday night in Etawah district, police said.
Both were admitted to the district hospital in critical condition, from where they were referred Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences, Saifai. Nayak, a native of Gorakhpur, is posted as the Assistant Commandant of 28th Corps PAC in Etawah. He lives with his family in the Officers Block in the 28th PAC Corps Complex. On Tuesday night, he tried to hang himself while his wife Jagruti (46) consumed poison after an argument over some issue.
Seeing the uproar, PAC jawans posted on night duty at Nayak’s residence reached the spot and immediately took both of them to the district hospital in critical condition.
From there, they were referred to the Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences, Saifai, police said, adding that prima facie it appears that the couple took the extreme step due to some family feud, though investigation is on. Superintendent of Police (City) on receipt of information Kapil Dev Singh reached the spot.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjay Kumar Verma said a probe was on to find out the exact cause of the incident. “We will talk to him once his condition improves,” the SSP said.
