Pakistan: Impact of Imran’s victory in Punjab by-election, possible elections in Pakistan soon

Ruling Party (PML-N) leader and Home Minister Rana Sanaullah has indicated that elections will be held soon in the country after former Pakistan PM Imran Khan’s party got a big victory in the Punjab Assembly bypolls. He said, after discussions with the coalition parties, the decision will be finalized.

According to the report of Dawn newspaper, Home Minister Rana Sanaullah in the Shahbaz Sharif government in Pakistan made this statement at a press conference in Lahore. Rana also reacted to Imran Khan’s landslide victory for the PTI party and said that we have accepted the results of PTI.

Let us inform that in the by-elections to 20 assembly seats of Punjab, PTI has made a lead on 15. The minister, however, said the 20 seats did not challenge the popularity of the PML-N as the candidates contesting for these constituencies were not ours.

Discontent over chief ministerial candidate
Pakistani Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah also expressed dissatisfaction over PTI’s choice of Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervez Elahi as its chief ministerial candidate. The minister said that Elahi is neither democratic, nor tolerant nor respectful to anyone. Let me tell you, there has been an uproar in the politics of Pakistan for a long time regarding Parvez Elahi.
