Yash Chopra’s wife Pamela Chopra passed away on Thursday, April 20 in Mumbai. She was 74 years old. The family issued a statement confirming the news of his death and revealed that the last rites took place at 11 am. Soon after the news of Pamela’s demise hit the headlines, several celebrities paid tribute to Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra’s mother on their respective social media handles.

Anushka Sharma shared the statement released by the Chopra family on her Instagram stories and wrote, ‘RIP Pam Aunty’ with a red heart emoji.

Javed Akhtar also remembered Pamela as an ‘intelligent, educated, warm and funny’ person. He talked about Pamela’s contribution to Yash Chopra’s script and music and called her an ‘extraordinary person’.

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit also expressed grief over Pamela Chopra’s death and wrote, “Deeply saddened to hear about the passing away of Pamela Chopra (Pam Aunty), wife of late Yash Chopra ji. The entire film industry will miss the ever-smiling lady full of positivity.”

Singer-music director Amaal Mallik also penned a long note remembering Pamela Chopra. He recalled how he was just 17 when Pamela and Yash explained to him what ‘true love and companionship’ is. Amal further called Pamela her ‘sweetheart’ and expressed condolences to her family.

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan actor Raghav Juyal also took to Twitter to pay tribute to Pamela Chopra. He called her the ‘primary driving force behind Yash Raj Films’ and wished strength to the family.

Meanwhile, according to a report in Indian Express, Pamela Chopra was hospitalized for 15 days for pneumonia. “She died today. She was on ventilator for 15 days at Lilavati Hospital. He had pneumonia,” Dr Prahlad Prabhudesai told the publication.

According to the recently released docu-series The Romantics, which marked her last on-camera appearance, Pamela Chopra played a pivotal role in Yash’s films. He wrote the screenplay of the iconic film Kabhi Kabhi and styled the cast of the 1981 film Silsila. In addition, he also played a major role in the music of his films.
