Parents accidentally leave 18-month-old girl in hot car after 4th of July party, killing her

The couple have now been charged with the felony murder of a child.

A couple in the United States has been charged with felony murder in the death of their 18-month-old daughter, who died after being left in a hot car overnight after a Fourth of July party. According to CNNThe child was left alone in the car from about 3 a.m. until about 11 a.m., when the heat index was 105 degrees.

Citing a statement by Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd Shop Reports state that parents Joel and Jazmine Rondon attended the Fourth of July party with their three children, all under the age of 9, and stayed out until about 3 a.m. the next morning. After returning, Ms. Jazmine took the older children into the house and asked her husband to bring their daughter inside. Mr. Joel said that one of the car doors was open at the time. Police reported that the heat index that day was 105 degrees. They reported that the child’s internal body temperature was over 104 degrees Fahrenheit. The autopsy also revealed that the child’s manner of death was homicide and that her cause of death was hyperthermia “due to being left in the car”.

After the incident, the couple was drug screened. While Mr. Joel tested positive for meth, marijuana and alcohol, Ms. Jazmine tested positive for marijuana and alcohol.

The couple have now been charged with the felony murder of a child. He was taken into custody on Thursday and booked into the Polk County Jail. On the other hand, the other children of the couple have been placed with relatives.
