The infighting in the Rajasthan Congress escalated a few weeks ago with former deputy CM Sachin Pilot demanding action by the state government against “corruption” during the previous government led by Vasundhara Raje.

The Congress on Thursday said the party is supreme and will fight the Rajasthan assembly polls unitedly to emerge victorious, a claim that comes a day after former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot refused their demands to act against the Ashok Gehlot-led government. has come. Corruption.

Speaking in his constituency Tonk, Pilot on Wednesday said action has to be taken on the issues he raised, especially corruption in the previous BJP regime. Referring to the cancellation of government jobs exams after the paper leak, Pilot had said, “As far as getting justice to the youth is concerned, I think there is no possibility of any kind of compromise.”

When asked about his remarks and the growing tension in the Rajasthan unit, Congress General Secretary (Communications) Jairam Ramesh said, “On May 29, the Congress President spoke to Chief Minister Gehlot, (Mr) Sachin Pilot in the presence of (Mr) Rahul Gandhi met up with. , General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal, and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, General Secretary in-charge of Rajasthan, and discussed all the issues in detail. It reaffirmed the unity, solidarity, determination to fight the elections unitedly, he said.

We will return with a huge mandate in Rajasthan. Whatever discussion was held on May 29 will be carried forward. Give the Prime Minister the same answer that the people of Karnataka gave him.” “Party is supreme, we will fight this election unitedly and we will win.”

The infighting in the Rajasthan Congress escalated a few weeks ago after Pilot sought action against “corruption” by the state government during the previous Vasundhara Raje-led government. To ease tensions, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi held separate marathon discussions on Monday with Gehlot and Pilot, sources said. The latter took photographs at Kharge’s 10 Rajaji Marg residence. Pulled up

After the meetings, the party had said that Gehlot and Pilot have agreed to fight the upcoming assembly elections unitedly and left all issues to be resolved by the party high command. Addressing reporters after the meeting earlier this week, Venugopal had said, “Both leaders Ashok ji and Sachin ji had agreed to the proposal on these things.”

Asked about which resolution he was talking about, Venugopal had said, “Both have left it to the (party) high command.” He had said that the pilots are adamant on their demands and will continue to press for the issues raised by them if the Gehlot government does not act on them after the meeting.

Ever since the formation of the Congress government in the state in 2018, Gehlot and Pilot have been at loggerheads over power. In 2020, Pilot led a rebellion against Gehlot, following which he was removed from the posts of the party’s state unit president and deputy CM.

Last year, the high command’s attempt to effect a leadership change in Rajasthan failed when Gehlot loyalists dug their heels in and did not allow a legislature party meeting to take place. Pilot had last month defied a party warning and went on a day-long fast, targeting Gehlot’s “inaction” over alleged corruption during the previous Raje government.
