Jamshedpur: People had to face a lot of trouble on Saturday evening in view of Tusu fair near Gopal Maidan of Bishtupur police station area of ​​Jamshedpur.
The annual Tusu fair was organized in this ground after a gap of two years. According to the police, around 1 lakh people from the three districts of Kolhan participated in the fair, with a large number of visitors from neighboring Odisha and West Bengal.
DSP (Traffic) Kamal Kishore said on Sunday that the crowd was more than expected. He also said that more than 250 heavy trucks carrying the idols came to the fair and the number of vehicles parked in and around the grounds was no less than 50,000, including bikes and other two-wheelers.
Traffic was crawling on the city’s busy road connecting the railway station and two major hospitals – the Tata Main Hospital and the state-run MGMMCH.
The traffic chaos near the Maidan continued for more than 6 hours till night as a large number of people gathered there to enjoy the cultural function which was attended by State Health Minister Banna Gupta and Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahto .
The DSP said that although the traffic department had made arrangements for parking of vehicles away from the venue, the number of vehicles was more than the parking lot. As a result, vehicles including big buses and trucks were parked on the busy main road, he said.
The fair is being held at the grounds since 2006.
The crowd was more than the police present there. Significantly, there are about 71 policemen in the traffic department in Jamshedpur.

Satrupa Mukherjee, an employee of a private firm, got stuck in a traffic jam while going from Bishtupur to Sonari in an auto rickshaw. He said that the administration should avoid organizing big events in the ground located in the center of the city.
Even Kamal Kishor agreed that the administration should think of alternative venues for the mega events.
Businessman Rohit Singh said a similar situation was witnessed near Gol Maidan recently during the three-day winter carnival organized by Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Ltd as visitors parked their vehicles on the road as earmarked parking was not available. There was no space in the venue. , People passing through Bishtupur had to struggle hard for three days.
Housewife Savita Kumari, who went to Bishtupur marketing, also got stuck in the jam. He said that a similar problem arose when on December 31, 2022, Tata Steel organized a flower show for three days at Gopal Maidan.
He hoped that the administration would learn a lesson from the problems faced by the common people on the roads.
