Patna Civic Body Approves 6 Secondary Waste Transfer Stations | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: In a bid to bolster the city’s waste management infrastructure, the empowered standing committee of Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Monday approved several proposals, including construction of secondary waste transfer stations in all six circles of the civic body. The decision was taken during a meeting of the 8th empowered standing committee, which was chaired by the Patna mayor Sita Sahu.
“Total six waste transfer stations will be constructed — each in Azimabad, Bankipore, Kankarbagh, New Capital, Patliputra and Patna City circles — as a part of the PMC’s commitment towards cleanliness.These waste transfer stations will serve as the temporary garbage collection points where segregation process will take place. Afterwards, the garbage will be dumped at the landfill site at Ramchak Bairiya,” Sahu said.
The civic body also gave its nod to provide free Wi-Fi facility at public places. “Free WiFi zone would be created at two selected public places in each ward,” said the mayor.
The PMC has also given its nod for renaming three roads in the city. Main road of Hospito India in Buddha Colony will be named after late Padma Shri awardee Dr Indu Bhushan Sinha, a road near 90 Feet Road to be named after Raj Narayan Rai and Road number 6 in Rajiv Nagar to be named after late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. A proposal to rename Chowk intersection located at Malsalami as Laheri Baba Chowk and Daldali Road to Kansi Sav Chowk were also cleared.
Moreover, the PMC has sanctioned Rs 1 crore to the ward councillors for construction of road and drainage among other civic work in their respective wards.
Altogether 55 out of the 57 proposals have got the green signal from the PMC empowered committee. The other approved proposals include, installation of a life size statue (243-feet high) of Dr Rajendra Prasad at Ganga Ghat, procurement of two vehicle-mounted fogging machines, Rs 10 crore for converting the diesel powered vehicles to CNG, 12 mobile vehicles mounted with water tank and jetting machines for cleaning public toilets, beautification of slum areas, deployment of 20 additional sweepers in each ward, development of a park near Baba Chowk among and other water pipeline projects. PMC commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar, deputy mayor Reshmi Kumari, seven other members of the empowered standing committee and PMC officials were present during the meeting.
