PM dedicates Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot section of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to the nation

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday dedicated to the nation the 246-km Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot section of the Delhi Mumbai Expressway.

He also laid the foundation stone for more than 247 kms of National Highway projects to be developed 5940 crores.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that building excellent road infrastructure is the engine of growth, development and connectivity in New India. “This is being felt by the construction of several world-class expressways going on across the country.”

He said that this is one of the most advanced expressways in the world which presents a grand picture of developing India. When such modern roads, railway stations, railway tracks, metro and airports are built, then the development of the country gains momentum.

PM Modi said that for the last 9 years, the central government is continuously investing heavily in infrastructure. “Investments worth more than Rs. Rs 50,000 crore was earmarked for the construction of highways in Rajasthan. In this year’s budget, the Prime Minister said that an allocation of 10 lakh crore has been made for infrastructure, which is 5 times more than the allocation of 2014.

The Prime Minister said that these investments will greatly benefit the poor and middle class of Rajasthan. “The benefit of investing in infrastructure on the economy is that it creates jobs and connectivity. When investment is made in building highways, railways, ports, airports, optical fibre, digital connectivity, pucca houses and colleges, every section of society is empowered.”

He said that another advantage of infrastructure is that it is promoting economic activities. “With the construction of the Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot highway, travel time between Delhi and Jaipur will be reduced. Rural haats are being set up along the expressway which will help local farmers and artisans. Sariska, Keoladeo National Park Tourist destinations such as , Ranthambore and Jaipur will benefit immensely from the highway.”

PM Modi said that one of the other three projects will directly connect Jaipur with the expressway. The second project will connect the expressway with the Ambala-Kotputli corridor near Alwar. This will help vehicles coming from Haryana, Punjab, Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir to go to Punjab, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. The Lalsot Karoli road will also connect this area to the expressway.”

The Prime Minister said that the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor are going to be two strong pillars of progress for Rajasthan and the country and will transform the entire region including Rajasthan in the times to come.

“These two projects will strengthen the Mumbai-Delhi Economic Corridor and the road and freight corridor will connect several regions of Rajasthan, Haryana and western India with ports. It will also create new opportunities for logistics, warehousing, transportation and other industries.”

PM Modi said that the Delhi Mumbai Expressway is driven by the PM Gati Shakti masterplan. “Arrangements have been made to lay optical fibre, power lines and gas pipelines, and the remaining land will be used for generation of solar power as well as for storage purposes. These efforts will save the country a lot of money in future.”
