The AMC further alleged that Jaya posted a ‘provocative matter’ on social media and that the TMC had taken this action out of vendetta involving the chief minister’s family member and thus, for political gains as TMC acted It was a single shop.
The complaint states that through social media posts, the alleged accused has defamed TMC and its officials and thereby hurt the sentiments of TMC employees and its employees. Thus, he has created a tussle between the citizens and the corporation officials and for personal gain he has maligned the TMC in the minds of the citizens. The AMC’s complaint states that it has named a family member of the Chief Minister and given a political color to the legal action. He has not only defamed the Corporation and its employees but has also created a tussle between the citizens and the civic employees.
A senior police officer said that after registering the complaint and registering the FIR under sections 500 defamation, 505 (2) (statement causing or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and IPC section 109 (abetment of any offence, if the act abetted is done in consequence, and where no express provision is made for its punishment).
He was produced before the magistrate’s court of MV Metil Patil, from where he was remanded to judicial custody.
