Poll heat’s on: DK Shivakumar goes on temple run in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi | Mangaluru News – Times of India

MANGALURU: Deputy chief minister and Congress state president DK Shivakumar visited a slew of temples in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on Tuesday, seeking divine assistance ahead of Lok Sabha elections and praying people would “bless” Congress for implementing the guarantee schemes as promised.
Shivakumar visited Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Temple, and Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple and travelled to Sringeri via helicopter to offer prayers at Sri Sharada Peetham.
“I have sought blessings of Lord Manjunatha and Annappa Swamy at Dharmasthala to prepare for the Lok Sabha election fight,” Shivakumar told reporters. “I seek the blessings of Lord Manjunatha during every election. The lord has been blessing me too.”
Replying to a question, he said: “We are at the shrine of Lord Manjunatha, the god of truth. We have kept our word by fulfilling all promises made before the assembly elections. We have done our part. The rest is up to the people.”
He said women are travelling free in KSRTC buses and visiting pilgrimage centres. “This was made possible only because of the power people gave us. We are confident people will remember us,” he said.
After offering prayers at Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Temple, Shivakumar said: “I have faith in God and religion. I believe all religions advocate the same philosophy. I am confident Congress will bag the maximum seats in Karnataka.”
