Prague university shooting: Over 15 killed, several wounded; shooter identified as student – Times of India

NEW DELHI: More than 15 people were killed and several others were left injured after a gunman opened fire in a university building in central Prague.
The police have identified the shooter as a student of the university.
“The gunman was eliminated!!!” police said on X, formerly Twitter.
“The building is currently being evacuated and there are several dead and dozens of wounded people on the scene,” the statement added.
The shooting had occurred at the Charles University Faculty of Arts whose teachers and students were instructed to lock themselves up when the police action was under way.
An email addressed to both faculty and students within the Faculty of Arts at Charles University, as reported by Reuters, had said a shooter was in one of its buildings and had told staff to “stay put”.
“Don’t go anywhere, if you’re in the offices, lock them and place furniture in front of the door, turn off the lights,” the email said.
One X user posted a photo of a group of students, hiding crouched on a ledge of the building. Czech interior minister Vit Rakusan told the public Czech TV “no other gunman has been confirmed” and urged the public to follow police instructions.
Police cordoned off the area and asked people living nearby to stay at home.
Prime Minister Petr Fiala cancelled his trip to the east of the country and was en route to Prague, he said on X.
