Presidential Poll: NCP MLA cross-voted in Jharkhand, said- Voted for Draupadi Murmu after listening to the voice of conscience

Voting is underway to elect the 16th President of the country. A total of 4800 elected MPs and MLAs are taking part in the ongoing voting to elect the new President. In view of the polling held so far, the victory of NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu in the elections as well as the crowning of a tribal woman for the first time on the country’s top constitutional post is certain. Meanwhile, in Jharkhand, NCP MLA Kamlesh Singh has announced that he has voted for NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu. Singh said that he heard the voice of his soul while casting his vote.

It is worth mentioning that Draupadi Murmu, who was the former Governor of Jharkhand, is contesting against former Hazaribagh MP Yashwant Sinha. Yashwant Sinha is the joint candidate of non-BJP parties including Congress, TMC and NCP. According to assembly sources, till 1 pm, 50 out of 81 MLAs of the state cast their votes in the tribunal hall of the house for the presidential election. 28 MLAs of NDA, including two MLAs of All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) party, reached the assembly premises in a bus to exercise their franchise.

During this, BJP MLA Biranchi Narayan claimed that NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu will get the support of at least 65 MLAs in Jharkhand in any case. He also claimed that many Congress MLAs would also vote for him listening to the voice of their soul.

BJP MLAs Anant Ojha and Bhanu Pratap Shahi first exercised their franchise for the post of President in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly.
