Procreate Dreams is the latest app from its developer, designed to make 2D animation more accessible through features such as multi-touch timeline support and the gesture-based ‘Performing’ tool. Here are the details.

Procreate has been the most reliable app for creatives to make illustrations on-the-go, while also facilitating other use cases. Now, the developer has announced a new app in the Procreate family—called Procreate Dreams. This app will make it easy for creatives to work with 2D animation workflows.

“Procreate Dreams is an all-new animation app packed with powerful tools that anyone can use. Create engaging hand-drawn animations, motion graphics, and enhance them with photos, videos, and sound,” the developer notes.

Procreate Dreams Launch Date and Price

Procreate Dreams will be available on November 22, 2023, and will launch for a one-time price of $19.99, with no subscriptions needed. It will be available for the Apple iPad.

Procreate Dreams Features

The new 2D animation-centric app is designed for touch. So, artists and animators can “direct how the animation should feel” and introduces new tools like ‘Performing,’ which lets users make gestures to automatically add keyframes as the tool records the actions. The developer also hints that creative may not need prior animation experience to use the app.

Furthermore, the app features support for a multi-touch timeline. This means that creatives will be able to mix drawing, cell animation, keyframing, video editing, and even compositing.

“Procreate Dreams delivers unrivaled performance through exceptional innovation, taking full advantage of Apple silicon. Procreate’s next-generation painting and compositing engine supercharges the painting experience, and now creatives can work on raster projects with resolutions up to 1 million by 1 million pixels, and more layers than they’ll ever need,” the developer added.

Additionally, Procreate Dreams will also support the several brushes that Procreate already offers, and using the Apple Pencil with its low latency and precision should also work well with Procreate Dreams.
