Panaji: With 186 elections Panchayats Sale to be held on August 10 in Goa Liquor A ban has been imposed in the jurisdiction of these panchayats after 10 pm.
If any establishment is found to be serving Liquor After 10 pm during the prohibition period, its license will be canceled and the offender will be liable to penal action.
The District Collector read that he will also face action on other relevant provisions of the applicable laws.
In these panchayats, shops selling liquor will be able to remain open after 10 pm, but will not be able to serve liquor.
This order will not apply to establishments which are required by law to close before 10.00 pm.
The order is not applicable to the panchayats of Alorna, Kasarvarnam and Chandel-Hassapur in Pernem taluka, Harvalam panchayat in Bicholim taluka and Taleigao gram panchayat in Tiswadi taluka, where elections are not being held.
There are 191 Panchayats in Goa.
Also, the order will not apply to municipal areas in North Goa and South Goa districts and the jurisdiction of the Corporation of Panaji City (CCP) has been excluded. The public is requested to report the violation, if any, to the District Election Officer.
Panchayat election results will be declared on August 12.
