Public conference on ‘Waste Free Kerala’ campaign held in Kozhikode

The Kozhikode Corporation organized a public meeting on Tuesday to discuss the implementation of the government’s ‘Garbage Free Kerala’ campaign.

A survey is being conducted to identify the gaps in the source-level waste management programme. It aims to clean public places in each ward and ensure that waste is not thrown irresponsibly.

The conference was organized to ensure public participation in further activities to declare Kozhikode ‘free from dumping in public places’ on World Environment Day June 5.

Mayor Bina Philip inaugurated the convention which was presided over by Deputy Mayor CP Musafar Ahmed. Corporation Secretary KU Bini informed about the campaign.

Manalil Mohanan, District Coordinator of Waste Free Kerala Campaign and S Jayashree, President of Corporation Health Standing Committee spoke. The convention was attended by representatives of Residents Association, Kudumbashree, Rapid Response Team, traders, sanitation workers, Haritha Karma Sena volunteers and public representatives.
